TONY LEBRON EPK

BIOGRAPHY

PRODUCER - DJ - ARTIST

Tony Lebron’s love of music developed at an early age, as he listened to his mother and Grandmother's vinyl collection of American & Latin music at home, as well as, constant exposure to the Latin Music community in the neighborhood ub which he was raised.  Be exposed to the likes of Richie Ray & Bobby Cruz, Jose "El Canario" Alberto and the Legendary Ralphie Mercado Sr. who managed and introduced so many Latin Music artists to the Culture; and the local DJs pulling hits from crate after crate of vinyl at neighborhood parties. More than that, he is of a generation that witnessed the birth of rap/hiphop…and at 16, he began to DJ for friends and for-hire.

In 1986, Tony discovered the NY club scene, including legendary hotspots like The Tunnel, HeartThrobs, 1018, Sound Factory, Octagon, Roseland & Studio 54. It was during this time that Tony began working as a promoter for the NYC Underground Club in Union Square, Baird Jones,  This is where he was further influenced by DJs such as Jose “The Animal” Diaz, Roman Ricardo, Louie Vega, Baby J, Eric B and many others who followed.  These are just a few who contributed to the melting pot of Tony’s musical influences.

In 1986, a neighbor and avid clubgoer brought him to a downtown Manhattan nightspot called Lazarra’s. Though not old enough to frequent the club as a patron, he was put on to DJ that night and thus began his professional DJ career. Shortly thereafter, Tony began to show interest in the music production.  As a result, he was introduced to Danny Miranda, the head sound engineer at the Platinum Factory in Restoration Plaza, Brooklyn NY.  Danny was entrenched in producing freestyle tracks and began to teach Tony the craft of analog music production. Tony continued to network throughout the industry, however, in 1990 he made the decision to shelve his pursuit in the industry to seek a career in government, politics and the advocacy of civil rights for Latinos and African-Americans in New York City. While Tony never lost his love for music! After a 17-year hiatus, in mid-2007, he was approached by veteran hip-hop and former Fugees member, DJ Hard Hittin Harry to assist in the production of an internet radio show. This event marked the beginning of Tony’s return to the music industry. Tony assisted Harry in the production of the weekly show, when Harry suggested that Tony play a one-hour set for one of the shows.  Tony not having been in tune with the dance music industry scene for almost 17 years, he reluctantly agreed to deliver an old school house set for the show. Unaware of Tony’s ability to DJ, Harry encouraged him to continue playing. In July of 2007, Tony began searching the Internet for his own Internet radio show. By late July, he stumbled onto www.JerseyDJs.com and landed his first internet radio show, “Foreplay Fridays.” Realizing he would have to gain a significant amount of exposure to build a solid following, he took on two more weekly shows with www.GotBassRadio.com and SoulSatellite.com, a UK based online radio station.

In 3 months, Tony was being invited to play as a guest DJ on several other online stations.   On the merits of his work, he started getting calls to play some local venues in New Jersey and began to network further with the Jersey House Music community.

In January of 2008, Tony ran into his old friend, veteran NYC DJ Ray Vazquez. Tony and Ray began frequenting events together and, in the summer of 2008, Ray invited Tony to play on the Coney Island Boardwalk Parties alongside him and DJ /Producer Duce Martinez for the end of season Coney Island Grand Finale. Tony and Duce became close, which led to Duce inviting Tony to do a guest appearance on his show Axiom Studio Sessions, a syndicated weekly web telecast. Shortly thereafter, Duce began to assist Tony in learning the craft of today’s digital music production.

Since his return to the DJ scene and production, Tony has been responsible for unreleased remixes such as “I Can’t Go For That!” (Hall & Oates), “Blame It On The Alcohol” (Jamie Foxx), “To The Moon” (Usher) and “Bad Habits” (Maxwell).

Recently, Tony has worked on a remix of “The Creators” (Jose Gonzales/Luis Romero) along with Duce Martinez. Tony’s has also released solo projects, “Thunderous Souls, “Message” with Darryl D’Bonneau and his latest mixes “Don’t Be Lying” with Emory Toler featuring Remonia Dixon on the Italy based label Twelve Records.

Today, Tony is managed by LMG NYC and is also the chief recording engineer for LMG Studios NYC.    Tony has worked closely with Singer / Songwriter Aaron K. Gray and has assumed the role of Executive Producer and is the recording engineer for his albums "Then & Now" and upcoming Album that held "S4E" scheduled for release mid 2025.   "Then & Now occupied the number 1 slot on the album charts for 5 weeks straight and for several month's has remained in the Top 20 on the charts.   The album was named the number 2 album of the year on Traxsource.
